From 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Where: SWD Classroom
Details:

Meet with members of the Baltimore Applique Society and learn more about the amazing work this guild does!

For over 30 years, the members of the Baltimore Applique Society, which includes quiltmakers, researchers, and collectors, have dedicated themselves to the preservation of quilts, textiles, and related materials within museums and historical societies. Our membership spans 29 states, the District of Columbia, and three countries: Argentina, Canada, and the Netherlands. Thanks to advancements in technology, members are now able to participate in meetings virtually via the Zoom platform.

In addition to studying and preserving the legacy of Baltimore Album Quilts, our members collaboratively work to enhance one another’s skills with needle and thread through teaching and mutual encouragement. We convene monthly for “sit and sew” sessions, which occur once in person and once via Zoom.

During our monthly meetings, held from September through June, we celebrate each other’s achievements through the show and tell portion of each meeting. Our newsletter serves to keep members informed of the group’s activities and features images of both historical and contemporary quilts.
