Learn to Quilt with Barbara Dahlberg
This four session, beginning quilting class is for new quilters and those who want to brush up on their quilting skills. Fundamentals will be taught that include rotary cutting, chain piecing, straight line machine quilting and binding. Before the class, please review your machine and know how to thread your machine, wind a bobbin and straight stitch.
You will work on a quilt in class that is approximately 30” wide x 40” long. It is suitable for a baby quilt, lap quilt or wheelchair quilt. There will be homework following each session with the goal of completing the quilt by the end of the course.

Supplies
- Sewing machine in good working order with ¼”PIECING FOOT WITH GUIDE and WALKING FOOT
- Sewing machine manual for your machine
- Rotary cutter with a new blade
- 6” x 24” non-slip acrylic ruler, quilt shop quality
- Cutting mat, 24” or larger
- 2 ½ yards of good quality quilting cotton fabric for sashing, borders and backing. Wash and iron fabric before class.
- 5 fat quarters of coordinating fabric for the blocks. Wash and iron fabrics before class.
- ½ yard coordinating fabric for binding. Wash and iron before class
- Cotton batting – Dream Cotton 46”x 36” (craft size) or Warm and Natural 34” x 45” (craft size) work well
- Cotton thread in color to match or blend with your 2 ½ yards of fabric
- An extra wound bobbin of your thread
- 90/14 Topstitch sewing machine needles and a hand sewing needle
- Basic sewing supplies (scissors, seam ripper, pencil, straight pins)
- Curved quilt basting pins
- Gallon size Ziplock bag
