Introduction to Scrappy Applique with Shannon Brinkley Certified Teacher Brenda Holland!



This class is perfect for beginner quilters as well as more advanced quilters who are interested in learning this raw-edge applique techinque. Join Shannon Brinkley Certified Instructor Brenda Holland as she teaches Shannon's simple and fun raw-edge technique, basic quilting techniques, and basic free motion quilting!

Students will take away a finished, or nearly finished, quilt top- plus the confidence to make more!

  •        One Applique Template (available at https://shannon-brinkley.mykajabi.com/a/2147519672/KXcn8i2s or from Brenda on the day of the workshop) 
  •        Various fabric for the applique piece (5-10 fat eighths would be perfect)
  •        Thread that coordinates with the collage fabric
  •        Bobbin thread
  •        A large Teflon sheet or parchment paper

 

 

 

The following supplies are in the Scrappy Applique Kit, which is available for purchase on the day of class or on Salty Kitty Cat’s website beforehand.

 

  •        2.5 yards fusible web (I recommend Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 or Mistyfuse with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper)
  •        2 yds lightweight, non-woven, fusible interfacing (I prefer Pellon 906f)
  •        1 yd tear away iron on stabilizer (I recommend Sulky Totally Stable)
  •        clear polyester thread

 

 

 

Other Supplies:

 

  •        iron – if not provided by shop
  •        large pressing surface (an old towel is ideal)
  •        scissors
  •        rotary cutter
  •        straight pins
  •        basting pins or spray
  •        marking utensil
  •        plastic baggies for extra cut collage pieces
  •        quilting gloves by Swan Amity (optional, but recommended if free motion topstitching and/or quilting)
  •        Dritz Fray Check (optional)
