Pink Posey Applique Class with Barbara Burnham
Inspired by a vintage 1930’s pastel pink flower quilt, imagine a Posey Quilt in your favorite color. You could even go wild with bright batiks, or coordinates from your stash for a fun scrap quilt.
In this workshop, we will pre-turn seam allowances for applique – no needleturn required! Barbara will share her techniques for accurate placement of pieces. Arrange all the applique pieces and secure them on your block and applique by hand. Make a gently curved stem and a softly padded center circle. Easily master smooth inner and outer curves. Try Barbara’s unique method for sharp pointed leaf tips.
Barbara uses a video projection system so every student can see closeups. If you are a beginner, even if you have never held a hand sewing needle, you can learn to appliqué by hand. Barbara will teach you to thread a needle, how to hold the needle, plus tricks to prevent the thread from falling out, twisting or tangling. Discover how both hands work together for small and large appliqué projects. Learn several knots to secure your sewing. Practice the blind appliqué stitch.
