Beginner Hand Piecing with Barbara Burnham
Learn basic techniques for hand piecing with an easy “Shoo Fly” block. Hand piecing is an enjoyable and relaxing way of making quilts, and portable enough to take almost anywhere to stitch in peace and quiet, alone or with friends. Only minimal tools are needed. Learn several ways to make templates, various techniques for stitching pieces together, and tips to improve accuracy. Understand the importance of “bias” fabric. Secure stitching lines with various knots.
Barbara will show how to press finished blocks, and will share quilts from her collection of antique hand pieced quilts. Barbara teaches with a video projection system so everyone can see closeups.
