Total Beginners Hand Applique Hearts with Barbara Burnham
Even if you have never held a hand sewing needle, Barbara Burnham will teach three methods of Hand Applique – Freezer Paper on Top with Needleturn, Pre-turned Edges for Applique, and Back Basting Applique. Learn to choose the best tools for the job, including some you might not think could be applique tools. Learn various ways to thread a needle, how to hold the needle and prevent the thread from falling out, twisting or tangling. Learn several different knots to secure your sewing. Practice the blind applique stitch and master smooth inner and outer curves, sharp outer points, and fray-free inner V points. Barbara uses a video projection system so every student can see closeups.
Optional:* Plan to add borders to a heart block for a coffee mug mat, or a Hearts wall hanging. Slip a hand stitched appliqued heart inside a greeting card to cheer a sick friend, or in a special Valentine.
