A few years ago after learning about the centuries old Japanese art of flower arranging known as Ikebana at a museum exhibition, I began using some of the principles of this wonderful art form for my floral applique quilts. I call these Quilt Ikebana. In this class I’ll give a brief introduction to Ikebana and you will construct an arrangement from fabric based on the principles.
Patterns are provided for a vase, calla lilies, fern, and cat tails to begin the Summer Ikebana quilt shown. Sewing machines are not needed for class. You’ll receive full instructions to complete the machine applique quilt at home. Confident beginner/intermediate level.
