Learn how to construct a landscape withfabric. We'll discuss how to use color, value, line, texture and layering to achieve depth. In class you will make a small fused landscape (no sewing required), embellish it and mount in a photo mat. The technique can also be used for hand or machine applique. Beginner friendly.
This is a great class for teachers. Fabric landscapes are fun to make, are good for gifts and the technique has been enjoyed by students elementary through middle school level.
Supplies: • 8 fat quarters or large scraps: 1) light sky 2) light to medium blue batik 3) medium green batik, marble or tone on tone print 4) dark green batik or marble 5) dark brown with texture or small print 6) floral with medium print 7) water with small print 8) rocks with medium print • ½ yard muslin, white or off white • 1 yard of paper backed fusible web – Lt. Steam-A-Seam 2, Wonder Under or Lt. Heat and Bond • 8” x 10” photo mat (5” x 7” opening) with back or a piece of cardboard • Rotary cutter, ruler, mat • Pencil and eraser • Straight pins • Double stick scotch tape • Small, sharp scissors and paper scissors • Embellishments – small feathers, rocks, beads • Fabric glue for embellishments
