Binding 101 Class with Letitia Mattu
Congratulations on completing your quilt! Your piecing is accurate. Your borders are straight. The quilting is beautiful. Your binding is … not attached yet? Do you need a little more help? Binding is an important part of your quilt. It gives the quilt a finished edge, keeps it square, and helps frame your quilt. Come join Letitia Mattu as she helps you begin to master this last step in the quilt making process. Your quilts will be happy that you did!

- Single-fold vs double-fold binding
- Straight grain vs bias binding
- Choosing the right fabric

- Finishing by machine vs by hand

Required Supplies:
- Sewing machine in good working order
- ¼” foot
- Foot petal, cords, and manual
- Rotary Cutter (with a good blade)
- Cutting Mat (optional)
- 24” Ruler
- Scissors
- Seam ripper
- Pins
- Pencil (or other marking tool)
- A Quilted fat quarter sample (Sandwich two fat quarters with a piece of batting in between, and quilt it. An all over meander or some parallel lines are fine; we don’t need anything fancy. We will learn to attach binding with this sample.)
- ¼ yard scrap fabric (ugly is fine!)
