Rita Verroca's Needle Turn Applique with Broderie Perse Workshop

Flowers can speak volumes, yet never make a sound.Their rich history and unparalleled symbolism make flowers so much more than just nature’s beauty. They have inspired us for centuries and quilters in particular are called into their spell as they have used these images to adorn their quilts.

The magnificent Baltimore Album quilts of the 19th century are such an example and to our surprise often display a graceful combination of both appliqué and broderie perse. The use of imported  French fabrics gave some blocks a sophisticated look and sat in contrast to the more folk-like designs of the neighboring block. Rita combines both techniques in this lovely new design and will teach you why certain fabrics work better than others and will cover the needle turn technique suited for this kind of appliqué. Join Rita and learn how to look and interpret fabric in a new and exciting way.
Class participants can choose to work on Rita's class project (shown below), or continue work on their own project that they have in process as they learn Rita's techniques.

Learn traditional needle turn applique techniques from a master!
