Drawn directly from the antique quilt featured in Barbara?s book, ?Baltimore Garden Quilt,? this delightful block features flowers with only four petals, perhaps inspired by our beloved native dogwood trees. Make your block with the classic red and green fabrics so popular in the 1840s, or choose your favorite fabrics. Blend shades of color, or make artistic use of fabric on each petal. Learn the techniques needed to finish this block using needleturn with freezer paper on top, and no marks on the background. Learn to applique smooth curves on leaves and flowers. Try Barbara?s unique method for sharp leaf points so they turn easily and securely. Experiment with layered applique. Choose from several methods to make stems and arrange them in graceful curves.
