Blooming Blocks using Clip & Flip Applique Class with Diane Califano
Class objective:
- To teach students how to prepare the Blooming Block using the "clip and flip" appliqué technique.
- Class will complete one Blooming Block.
- Blooming Block can be finished into a throw pillow, or incorporated into a quilt setting for a 64 inch square quilt.
Students need to bring Basic Sewing and Cutting Supplies including:
- Sewing Machine, with power cord and pedal, needles, bobbins, open toe foot (optional but preferred)
- Iron and Pressing Mat
- Cutting Mat and Rotary Cutter
- Acrylic Cutting Ruler
- Scissors, Seam Ripper and Pins
- Thread, neutral for piecing, and colors to match your Background and Medium fabrics for appliqué
- Pencil, or marking tool (I prefer Sewline Pencil)
Fabric yardage requirements
One Blooming Block:
- Background fabric (sample used light green)-17" square
- Medium fabric (sample used orange)-17" square
- Dark fabric (sample used dark green)-17" square
- Heat-n-Bond Lite Glue Transfer Paper-17" square piece
Entire Quilt:
- Background fabric-2 yards
- Light (Printed Border) fabric)-1- 1/2 yards
- Medium fabric-1-3/4 yards
- Dark fabric-2-1/4 yards
- Heat-n-Bond Lite-2 yards
- Plus yardage for backing and binding
Class Kit includes ($10.00 fee paid to the teacher):
- Pattern (finished quilt size 64" x 64"); includes directions on how to make overlapping backed pillow sham (finished pillow size 16" x 16").
