Mariner's Star Block Class with Diane Califano
Class objective: To teach students how to sew a Mariner's Star quilt block using the paper piecing method including:
- estimating the size to cut your fabric pieces
- understanding the sequence of sewing pieces onto the pattern
- learning how to position fabric on the pattern to ensure a proper fit
Students need to bring Basic Sewing and Cutting Supplies including:

Fabric requirements: For making 1 paper pieced stars, assuming a 42" width of fabric. (Or you could just use a fat quarter for each color.)

Fabric requirements: For finishing the entire quilt.

Class Kit includes ($5.00 fee paid to the teacher at class):
- Paper Piecing Patterns to complete one star.
- Directions on how to paper piece.
Finished star block size 12" square. Class sample project can be nicely finished into a small wall hanging or table mat; or incorporated into overall quilt. Pattern available to finish out as a 66" x 66" Quilt (optional, additional $10.00 fee paid to the teacher).
